OFNC Nigeria Civil War Remembrance Service 2026

Date: Saturday 10th January 2026

Time: 3PM – 5PM

Speakers:

Rev. Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle (Former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria)

Mr. Odo Akaji

The Nigerian Civil War which occurred between 6th of July 1967 and 15th of January 1970 was a national calamity that claimed millions of lives.

Sanctity of life requires courage and fortitude to remember those who died. The history must neither be forgotten nor repeated by generations to come. Every human life is made in the very image of God (Genesis 1:27).

Sadly, human lives are still being lost through violence in Nigeria at alarming rates. This lends further credence to the need for continuous reminders about the sanctity of life through remembrance services.

In keeping with this, the Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians, UK, invites you to an online remembrance service on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@ofnc/streams

We look forward to seeing you.

Our Campaigns

Sickle cell research

Nigeria leads the world in the number of cases of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Some interventions have proven beneficial toward improving outcomes, especially in Nigeria and that includes treatment with a drug called Hydroxycarbamide. OFNC is supporting the improvement of outcomes of those living with SCD in keeping with its mission to provide relief of persons in conditions of need, hardship, or distress.

Water & Sanitation project

TASTE (Transfer of Appropriate Sustainable Technology & Expertise) is a Christian charity registered with the Charity Commission in the UK and separately with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. In 2021, TASTE completed a water project in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, funded by the Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians (OFNC).
